Ōkara Marina sits beside the iconic Te Matau a Pohe Bridge, which forms part of the popular Hātea Loop Walk. This scenic waterfront trail connects public art, parks, cafés, and the Town Basin.

Nearby, Parihaka Scenic Reserve offers bush walks and harbour views, while dedicated cycleways link the marina to Onerahi and other parts of the city.

Our local boating clubs

We have two great boating clubs near by. Whangārei Cruising Club was founded in 1921 and is the hub of boating, racing and socialising on the harbour. Our own Blackball Yacht Club was founded by those living and working in the Town Basin Marina community to help create social opportunities while giving back.

Further afield, the South Pacific Sailing Network is a group of like-minded tourism and marine industry professionals working in the South Pacific Islands.
